My 6th graders thoroughly enjoyed the Indian dance presentation by Madhu and Jill. The lesson included the meanings of the hand movements and the stories behind the dances, all of which brought understanding to the intrigue. The presenters were patient and enjoyed interacting with students. It was a wonderful cultural experience! Best wishes for continued success! I hope we can reunite next year.

Madhu performed at Greene Street Friends School last year as part of our annual International Day celebration. She gave three short performances in which she not only danced but engaged our students with the history of Classical Indian dance and the meaning behind the movements and facial expressions. Our students from pre-kindergarten all the way to eighth grade were rapt!! Indeed, they still talk about her "scary faces." I strongly recommend Sattriya Dance Company if you are looking for a fantastic way to bring real life knowledge into your cultural studies programs.
